Silent Key

Silent Key

It is with sadness that I report the passing of Harry Blackburn MD0HEB, today the 20th May 2014.

Harry will be remembered as a stalwart of the IOMARS for many years, supporting the Society at events and functions all over the island. He served for several years as Hon. Treasurer, and was well known for extracting coinage and notes at every opportunity for club funds.

In later years Harry’s health declined rapidly, and we heard less and less of him on the local repeaters. Harry will be missed greatly by his many radio friends around the world.

On behalf of the IOMARS I would like to pass our sincere condolences to Harry’s wife Geraldine and children for their loss.

IOMARS Clubnight – Tuesday 10th June

7.30 for 8pm – buying starts as soon as you arrive (hopefully!)

June’s club night / evening will be dedicated to the local second hand market, and the floor will be open to everyone to bring and buy their used or unwanted equipment.

Miss this and miss a bargain!

Cost – a donation from your sales to the society funds…

Club Night – Tuesday 13th May: SOLDERFEST

For want of a better description, the evening will be spent with the smell of burning solder in the air! A practical evening to demonstrate and practice the art of soldering plugs to cable, whilst not burning fingers or furniture.

Please bring along some coax, plugs and a soldering iron and solder – ideally two plugs and 18″ or so of cable in order to make up a patch lead (or two).

Normal time of 7.30pm til 10pm.

As always Arthur will be serving tea and biscuits, and the contribution at the end of the evening will go to the Sea Cadet funds.
