Club Night Tuesday 11th June   5 comments

For the delight and delectation of IOMARS members old and new, I am pleased to announce that the June club night will be a presentation from our popular wandering member and programmer of Ham Radio Deluxe – Simon Brown GD4ELI.

Simon has an update on his work with “SDR2” which should be of interest to many of us that have the facility to receive with various dongles and kit. He will have several examples of SDR radio in action.

Please arrive 7.30 for a 7.45/8pm start… as usual a collection for Sea Cadet funds will be made at the end of the evening… if you would/can give more than £1 it will be much appreciated.

Club Night – Tuesday 11th June   1 comment

Just a reminder that Club Night will be as normal on 11th June. The second Tuesday of the month falls just after TT Week so there won’t be the same issues getting in and out of Tromode.

As always we will try to arrange a talk or film for all present… please watch this space for further information.

73 all!

We have several important news items to discuss with the membership, which include:

* Special Event Station – GB4JDF
* Club Call Signs
* Continuing use of Tromode for Club Night

We have a video to show, courtesy of Stuart GD0OUD – Tony Hancock and his “Radio Ham” spoof (surely we aren’t all like that are we?)

As always, Arthur GD3 T’n’Sugar will be providing his extra special tea and biscuits, so how could you possibly come along? 7.30pm start (or thereabouts!)

GB4JDF – Special Event Station   1 comment

We are pleased to announce that we will be operating a “new” callsign – GB4JDF has been granted to us to join up with the Joey Dunlop Foundation and celebrate 30 years since the first win on the TT course of Joey Dunlop.

The station will be on air on Sunday 2nd June – Mad Sunday, from the rear of the TT Grandstand in Douglas. We will operate mainly HF bands using either a dipole or vertical or mix of both depending on the number of volunteers operating.

The Joey Dunlop Foundation have commissioned a limited edition QSL card:

The special limited edition QSL Card. Any not used for sending out to contacts will be sold off to aid funds for the Joey Dunlop Foundation.
